I remember this Mitchell model from my childhood – it was always in Dad’s study, wherever we were in the world!

I have no idea who made it 

Corgi Diecast models

Corgi make some very nice 1/72 diecast models and when first looking I was a bit naive and bought this one. The overall model itself is great but a lot of things do not add up!

The model has a serial of FR397:
On 28th May 1944 FR397 suffered a starboard engine fire on take off, it was then moved to 2 Group SU and later crash landed (damaged beyond repair) at RAF Thorpe Abbots

Aircraft type:

FR397 was a B25-C not a J

Paint:

Dark Green/Dark Earth over Sky Blue is completely the wrong colour scheme

Guns:

Shouldn’t have tail gun.

Paint:

RAF B-25’s were in Olive Drab over Neutral Grey and this model is faithful to that scheme

MQ is the squadron marking for 226 squadron and Dad actually flew this plane on 9th August 1944

They still kept the tail gun

The stand is flimsy
